We say -- We use it as, like, a vernacular like,

"What's shaking?" like, "What's the shake today?"

My name is Michael Mwenso.

I'm a bandleader, singer, musician.

I was born in Sierra Leone, in Freetown,

and I lived there until I was 10 years old,

and then we moved to London, and London was where, really,

music came into my life and became my brother.

It became my cousin.

It became my sister, and I was very blessed

that when I was getting into music,

there was still quite a lot of the great masters still alive.

I was able to see Ray Charles, and I was very lucky

to develop a relationship with James Brown

when I was 11 years old.

I was able to get to know him and get to know his band.

He then would allow me to come onstage and sing and dance,

and that changed my life, changed my life.
