Welcome to In Concert With CMS.
I'm Paula Zahn, and I'm so
happy you could join us for
musical fantasy and romance from
the Chamber Music Society of
Lincoln Center.
We open today's program with a
classic work of J.S.Bach.
His "Chromatic Fantasy and
Fugue" is a virtuosic work for
solo keyboard, featuring a
flurry of ominous and surprising
harmonies.
We then close our program with
Ernest Chausson's "Concerto
in D major for Violin, Piano,
and String Quartet."
This work of grand romanticism
was allegedly referred to by the
composer himself as "another
failure."Well, we beg to
differ. See for yourself.
Enjoy!
