Got a special little story before we even kick this off,

even before the cameras. I got something before this.

Ladies and gentlemen, a friend of mine, his name is Bob Gruen.

He's a photographer here in New York City.

We became friends over "Buy Me a Boat," oddly.

And, ladies and gentlemen, I'm talking about an iconic guy

who's taken photographs of all kinds of rock stars you know.

You've seen them in everything you've ever looked at.

And we met years ago, as soon as "Buy Me a Boat" came out.

It wasn't even a number-one song yet.

He was in North Carolina for family.

He turned on the radio and heard "Buy Me a Boat."

Fast-forward a few months. I'm in Upstate New York touring.

And in my meet-and-greet line is one of my heroes

of the rock world, Bob Gruen.

I could not believe it, as I am a Sex Pistols fan.

That guy knows everybody. I was freaking out.

He's here tonight. Would you please

make him welcome one time? He's a good friend of mine.

can bring two people from two completely different

backgrounds together and be friends?
