Nicholas Galanin teaches his son
Artist Nicholas Galanin teaches his son, Elliott, to work in silver. Bonus video from the STORYTELLERS episode
I started doing this when I was six. Little it's a little high for you huh?
How's that? Good. I used to always go to my dad's old shop.
When I was like really little and stuff and then he would be doing work so I just watched and every
once in a while he would let me do something. Wait wait wait wait you always start in the
center remember. I started with making shapes of bracelets and stuff making the shape of it.
Carving random shapes and then make shaping the bracelets it's too deep one smooth turn do that.
First you make it with a pen then you scratch it so you don't smudge the pen and then
you carve it with the tool.
I like working on metal more than painting at school
