- Ladies and gentleman, you are looking at actual video

and audio recording for history of the illusive Bandallamas

that have assembled from throughout the pastures

of the Midwest and beyond.

And I'm going to talk with Lisa, one of the sacred shepherds

of the Bandallamas. [laughter]

- That's a good way to put it. (laughter) - It's herding cats. - Herding.

- Everyone is from all points, both musically and geographically.

Give us the thumbnail of how Bandallamas came together.

- I'm gonna turn that over to my husband, Chris. He's gonna do it.

- Well, it actually started with Pauli calling me up

and saying, "Let's go down to--

Wally and I wanna come to a Packer game in Denver."

And we went to a Packer game and of course--

- Why does it always come down to the Packers?

- The Packers kicked Denver's butt, and it was awesome.

And we ended up going out drinking and partying,

and annoying everybody in Denver in every bar we could possibly go to and celebrating.

'Cause they were all just like, "Packer fans. (chuckles) They're everywhere!"

But the Bandallamas basically came out of that

and we ended up going to see Rob Wasserman play at this club

and the rest is history, I think. We came together.

It took us about two years to pull the whole thing together.

- There's husband and wife, but there's also two generations,

at least in this iteration today.

Annalee is Chris' mother. You have sung all of your life.

But how did you get hooked up with these guys?

- [laughs] I had him, and that pretty much did it.

- I thought you said, "I had it with him!" (all laughing)

- No, I just started singing when I was a kid

and dragged him along to festivals.

At one point he wanted a guitar, he got one.

In one week he knew every Robert Johnson tune off that album.

In one week.

He pulled every song off of it, at about 16.

And just-- Music has been back and forth.

It's a great inheritance.

Something that you can really change your life with.

It comes down to the feel, and the love is where it's at.

- We're getting that feel today. We are.

I think it's showing up in everyone watching, you're just feeling that.

It's a terrific ensemble of musicians.

I wanna particularly welcome Wally Ingram back here on the drums.

He came from California to do the show, so thank you Wally.

He's been called the Kevin Bacon of the music world,

because he six degrees from any famous musician that you've ever heard of.

They're lucky to have him.

Everybody from Sheryl Crow to Jackson Brown, on and on, Art Garfunkel.

You could throw a dart at a popular music dart board

and Wally Ingram has given them that back line.

So I think we have enough time for a couple more.

After you play this next one, Chris,

I'll give you a one or two more.

So we can keep the time. Okay, Bandallamas!
