The last band we were in, Ivory and Ash

we were going to use that name for a record

that we were going to record in that band

when when we switched over to this band

we just liked that name so much

that we kept it.

Dead from the neck up

- It's actually been a lot better the older we've gotten

because you're not having to like go from show to show

not knowing if you're gonna be able to make enough

money to eat or whatever because we do have jobs

that are able to support what we wanna do

so it felt being more financially stable is kinda

allowed us to do that and just having

'cause that we're all married and our wives being

super supportive, makes it really easy

a lot easier than I guess you would think

- You would think that the added responsibility

would restrict things but like Devon said

having supportive wives that, that have been with us for

you know kind of the duration, like they know that

we love to do this, so they're super supportive and

really without that it would be extremely difficult

so yeah perhaps to the wives.

- Being away from the wife and kids, you know

as supportive as they are that's also what makes it

hard to be away but you know again without that support

it would be impossible so yeah there's certainly a

balance there and we've just that did balance

like you said more, more and more lately

and you know yeah yeah it's hard at times for sure

for sure you miss 'em and wanna be with 'em.

They'll get old and then they'll come to the show, so

(laughter)

- Every show we've played we're like oh I don't know if we

should do this, like it always kind of start out like that

we go do it and it ends up

gets stuff and the cream out of it.

Whether it be not working or getting shows in the future

at other places like everything is just kinda been

going really good right now so just the want to

- Yeah we've said yes to a lot more stuff lately to like

at just this level it seems like every show is beneficial

like any chance of playing is beneficial for us

- The tonal switch made it really easy at first like

doing something that was quite a bit different like

like we said it was a natural progression but you know we

we kinda jumped ahead quite a few steps in a heavier

direction so that made it kind of inspiring in the beginning

and a great motivator was having a tour booked

as the previous band already and knowing that if we wanted

to do that still we would have to get stuff written

very quickly so that was a great motivator and a

after that point I think we did five songs to do that tour

and a after that it was kind of the same

you know the same process like you you run into roadblocks

and you run into stuff where you know you jam on a part

for 30 minutes and then realize it's not gonna work

and so you know from stand point it wasn't

much different from that it, remains that way

it's not a ton different then before

having you know having a fourth member previously

it's either you know one more opinion that progresses

things or you know one more opinion that that you know

just kinda gets thrown in the hat and you know

we've got four different opinions at that point.

So, really not at this point not much different

early on it was yeah it was pretty quick early on

and now we're kinda back in that groove of you know takes

a little more time to write, that sort of thing
