Looking to pitch a written piece to the ALL ARTS site? You’ve found the right page.

We accept pitches from all writers, and all genres of art are fair game.

Some guidelines to keep in mind:

What we’re looking for: Thoughtful writing about art, culture and community. Successful pitches tend to focus on how a specific film, performance, book or exhibition fits into a larger cultural context. As a publication based in New York City, we love stories about the local arts scene, but we also encourage pieces that appeal to a national audience.

What types of pieces we publish: A strong preference is placed on reported pieces and essays. This can range from stories about current events to coverage of exhibitions, artists and books. Pitches should have a unique angle and be timely. It’s important that our audience is able to see the work (whether that’s in-person or virtually) at the time of publication. We also welcome interviews, photo essays and illustrated pieces. At this time, we do not accept fiction, opinion pieces or personal essays.

How to format your pitch and make sure it gets to us: Use the submission form below to send a brief description (two to three paragraphs) of your piece and any relevant dates and sources. The pitch should give us a sense of not only what you’re covering, but also why you’re interested in the topic. Please introduce yourself and send examples of writing samples or clips, if you have them. If the pitch is urgent, format the submission title line as “URGENT: Title of Pitch.”

Simultaneous pitches are accepted, but please notify us if it is accepted elsewhere.

What to expect after you pitch: We will do our best to reply within two weeks of receiving your pitch, after which, please feel free to reach back out. We may not be able to reply in-depth to all pitches.

A note on covering programs featured on ALL ARTS:
If you see a program on our site that you are interested in covering, please feel free to reach out about that, too. We’re always looking at ways to contextualize the videos on our site.

All inquiries about pitching video projects and programming to ALL ARTS for broadcast or online streaming should be sent to AllArtsInfo@wliw.org.
