Hello, dance fans, we have some news for you.
Ballet Hispánico, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet and Dance Theatre of Harlem will share a stage as part of the first-ever BAAND Together Dance Festival — the name for which comes from the first letters of each company.
The outdoor festival, curated by the institutions’ artistic directors, will take place at Lincoln Center’s Damrosch Park as part of the “Restart Stages” series for a five-day stretch starting Aug. 17. The performances will all be free, with tickets distributed through TodayTix Lottery.
The mixed-bill programs feature works from choreographers Rennie Harris, Kyle Abraham, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Jessica Lang, Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, Justin Peck, Robert Garland, Alexei Ratmansky, Alvin Ailey, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa, Jerome Robbins and Dianne McIntyre.
In a joint statement, the artistic directors described the past year as a time of coming together, noting that the BAAND Together Dance Festival is a “celebration of the glory of our art and the power of unity.”
Support for the festival comes from Chanel and the Arnhold Dance Innovation Fund.
Guests can enter to snag tickets to the BAAND Together Dance Festival starting two weeks prior to performances on the TodayTix Lottery website.
