Like many artists, Charli XCX is turning to Instagram to remain connected with fans. On Wednesday, the singer announced a new daily conversation series, titled “Self-Isolation IG Livestream.”
Consisting of “daily events” with a slate of guests, the project is meant to provide support for those self-isolating and to “spark conversation, share insight or simply entertain fans across the world who are currently practicing social distancing.”
The series launched with Christine and the Queens, who joined Charli for an “emo conversation” about loneliness and more. The livestreams will continue throughout the week and will include a “Personal Training” session with Diplo (who Charli affectionately dubbed the “ultimate workout bro”), “Girls Night In” with Rita Ora, “Would U Rather” with Kim Petras and and “Art Class” with Clairo.
“Viewers are encouraged to be as active in each event as possible, joining the conversation or taking part at home,” said a press release about the series. “Through the week’s entire program of online events, Charli will be looking to connect the online world and the real world through shared experience — spreading positivity via her own platform. We’re all in this together, so self-isolation doesn’t have to be isolating.”
Over the past few days, the singer has taken to social media to share her own experience with self-isolating during the coronavirus pandemic. On March 15, Charli posted a diary entry, opening up about what it’s like to hit pause.
“Being a workaholic in quarantine is quite stressful,” Charli wrote, explaining that she has kept busy by creating mood boards and working ahead on ideas for videos. “As so many things get cancelled and a lot of things come to a [halt] around me, I start wondering — what if this change is permanent — or at least semi-permanent.”
